Decompression Therapy

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression (NSSD) is a FDA approved non-invasive treatment for patients who suffer from neck and back problems. The HillDT decompression machine slowly and gently lengthens or releases pressure in the spine through repetitive movements. The machine pulls and releases, creating a pressure change within the intervertebral disc, surrounding soft tissue, and joints. This pressure change allows the disc bulges or herniations and nutrients to be pulled back into the disc. Rehydration of the disc and surrounding structures creates a physiological change which assists the body’s natural healing process. Some of the spinal conditions treated are: disc bulge/herniation, facet syndrome, stenosis, spondylosis, failed back syndrome.

NSSD is now a Gold-Standard of spinal management in the U.S and is often used as a safe, affordable, and extremely effective alternative to spinal surgery. The distinction between surgical and non-surgical spinal decompression is an important one, as surgical spinal procedures are often considered a last option, while spinal decompression therapy is a safe treatment at any stage of back pain. The most common spinal decompression surgeries are laminectomy and microdiscectomy, which present a greater risk of complication or failure.

After a thorough history and physical examination by Dr. Bajaj, you may be recommended NSSD for your back or neck pain.  NSSD therapy at our clinic is a unique combination of the HillDT machine, myofascial release, chiropractic adjustments, rehabilitation exercises, and nutritional support. Typically 20-30 sessions are needed and each treatment is approximately 1 hr.
